And I would, except all reports are that they not only removed all the funky extras that used to be included in the basic package and made them separate costly add-ons, but that the new Toast just doesn't work as well as the old Toast did. I used to burn in Toast (an Apple program), but Toast came pre-loaded on my last two computers. I think the new software could edit MP3 files, but I'm used to working with AIFF and the stuff imported from CD is AIFF. TagScanner is a free software for Windows 10/8/7 systems that can be installed using Wine on Linux. The old editing software I had could only edit AIFF or WAV files. So, whenever you get my mixes, you can let me know if this is an endemic iTunes problem or not.įWIW, I don't burn MP3s to disc. The CD player in the car, etc., all just say "Track 1", "Track 2", etc. I have no other device or software for which the issue is relevant. I'll shut down and restart iTunes, and probably the computer, so the app will release memory and rebuild it, so that might help. Generally I think iTunes is a POS, but options are limited for my CD burning. I begrudgingly use iTunes to burn my discs, mainly because its playlist maintenance functions are better than Windows Media Player and the song import capabilities are quicker/faster. Not that hard to do right, and not that hard to test and confirm it's correct. As a former software engineer I know that this is just sloppy coding, to lose attribute context within a list. The question is, has anyone here seen this behavior, and do you know if there is a fix for it? The playlist appears fine in iTunes and all the song/artist info is correct, but the burning process is effed. The following programs will rip your CDs and use MusicBrainz to tag the new files. This is actually the second time I've seen this happen, using two different computers and burners. TagScanner helps one edit tags of most modern audio formats, supports ID3v1. Artist #2 was tagged to song 1, #3 to 2, #5 to 3 (skipped artist 4 altogether) and so on. Playing it in the car this morning I saw that although the song titles were right, the artists weren't. ![]() I burned my first cut of my annual comp to CD last night using iTunes.
